Coltassala is a wine originally conceived with the precise purpose of creating a Superwine. Initially labeled as Vdt (Table Wine), it immediately met the approval of the international press, which acclaimed him as a true Supertuscan. Later, with the introduction of the ‘Gran Selezione’ mention in Chianti Classico DOCG, Coltassala became one of its most iconic representatives.
In the 2016 vintage the wine is made from Sangiovese (95%) and Mammolo (5%), cultivated on sandstone soils, with a very low yield (45ql. per ha) and aged for 24 months in Allier barriques, and for another 6 in bottle. It must be said that this vintage has immediately reaped national and international recognition.
Its aroma, intense and very articulate, starts from the red fruit also cooked or in jam (black cherry over everything), then turns on notes of spice, humus, Habana tobacco and slight boisée touches, and ends with incense and vinyl. The mouthfeel is warm and enveloping with a dense and elegant tannic texture, with a retrolfactive return of the spicy and empyreumatic components, and an extraordinarily long and tasty fresh finish.
