This is the story of an estate formed around the first hectare of land, on the Tuscan hills, in 1974, by Giuseppe Castiglioni. The initial idea was to produce great wines from Sangiovese but also from Bordeaux vines, being that the period in which the great wines of Bordeaux began to reap success and to attract their italian fans. With the handover of the company between the 80s and 90s to Giuseppe son, Sebastiano, did not change the philosophy but the approach, in the vineyard and cellar, with the first application of organic regulations and,, subsequently (in 2000), of biodynamic and vegan one.
Today Querciabella, which covers over 100 hectares of land (which makes it probably the largest Italian biodynamic producer), has succeeded in making its wines speak, even before its approach, for the well-deserved fame of which they enjoy. Wines like Batar, Camartina and Palafreno, are icons of style and elegance that systematically climb the national and international charts accompanied by praises and sparkling scores. This wine battery is joined by Chianti Classico, the first wine produced by the company since its origins, and the Riserva, born just in 2011 and immediately rose to the headlines.
In the glass this 2016 vintage has a beautiful ruby color with a garnet edge and a good consistency. The nose develops hints of ciliega and marasca cherry (also in jam), violet and dehydrated rose, tobacco and tanned leather, vinyl and empyrrhematic touches. The taste-olfactory correspondence is beautiful with a sip of great freshness that closes on long acidic/sapid tones.
