Chiara Condello is a young viticulturist who, in a small strip of land, close to the forest, between 150 and 300 meters above sea level, in the hills of Predappio, carries on her idea of viticulture.: an organic and artisanal idea, made of deep respect for three million years old marine originated lands, with calcareous-clayey skeleton, rich in tufaceous sandstone rocks of Pliocene origin. In vineyards Chiara, almost everyday, carry out by hand all the grape processing, using very limited amounts of copper and sulphur, in order to obtain healthy and ripe grapes that do not need “adjustments” in the cellar.
From a parcel of 0,8 hectares of this land comes this Sangiovese Le Lucciole: the grapes, once handpicked and harvested in small wooden casks, are sent to the cellar where fermnet in wood spontaneously, without temperature control. The wine macerate for 25-45 days then it is transferred (without mechanic pumps and with the only use of gravity) in 35 hectoliter Slavonian barrels, to age, and then in bottles for 6 months for the final refinement.
This 2016 medium-intensity ruby vintage smells of sour cherry, sanguinella orange, carob, slightly withered red rose, young tobacco and tanning with hematic-ferrous brushstrokes. In the mouth the acidity prevails over the sapidity and the tactile sensation is quite soft with the right amount of tannins and fruity and hematic hints which lead to a zesty and almost iodine finish.
