Brisighella lies on the Romagna Appennine at 400 meter above the sea level, in the sub-area of Valpiana. Here Stefano Bariani (previously Angelo Gaja personal assistent) and his wife Mariagrazia established Fondo San Giuseppe winery, on a plateau of 5 acres of vineyard surrounded by woods. The clean air, the abundant oxygen production and the great biodiversity ar all deeply respected by Stefano whom follows an organical approach both in the vineyard and in the cellar.
Tera comes from two small vines (0,7 hectares total) of trebbiano grapes formerly planted between 1970 and 1980 in phosphate-poor soils produces few but very concentrated berries. The grapes, carefully hand-picked, are sent to the cellar without addition of additives; there they spontaneously ferment and macerate with frequent pumping over and batonnage, and finally mature for 6 months in steel before being bottled.
The pale yellow with golden reflections 2019 vintage smells of cedar, bergamot, yellow plum, jasmine, fresh cut grass and bread crust, with a twist of flintstones. The mouthfeel is very crisp, snappy, with a good persistence and a captivating almond finish.
