Egidio Corradi established Poderi Boscarelli in 1962 when he bought two small farms nearby Siena, between Cervognano and Montepulciano, partially cultivated with vineyards. Egidio’s project passed into the hands of his daughter Paola and her husband Ippolito, up to his grandchildren Luca and Niccolò who currently run the family business and its 14 hectares of vines. In 1988 there was the purchase of “Nocio” vine: a sandy/clay plot of about 4 hectares at 300 meters above sea level, where were made (since 1991) selections of Prugnolo Gentile (a variety of Sangiovese grape), replanted with a density of 5/6000 vines per hectare.
From that vineyard was born the Nobile di Montepulciano Il Nocio, made of various cuvèes obtained from the separate collection of grapes, based on the soil on which they insist and the degree of maturation. Destemmed and pressed, the grapes ferment for about 10 days, at controlled temperature, thanks to their indigenous yeasts, in conical vats filled only for 2/3, and then finish macerating for another 10 days. The individual cuvèes age, separated, in 5/10 hl barrels for about 18/24 months, before being reassembled in different percentages and then aged in bottles another year.
This intense ruby red with garnet reflections 2015 vintage opens on hints of black cherry and red orange, to continue with plum, violet, undergrowth, carob, cinnamon and licorice. The palate is fresh, fruity, sapid and slightly tannic, with a persistent finish on long pleasant fruity tones.
